Three Pagodas & Chongsheng Monastery – Dali

The Three Pagodas are built of mud and clay in Dali, the Chinese province of Yunnan. The central pagoda (last photo) was built around 824 AD and the other two about 100 years later. The pagodas were supposedly built to ward off dragons. The Chongsheng Monastery was rebuilt is relatively new and is part of a huge temple complex (seen in the second and third photo).
