Holyland Model of Jerusalem (Israel Museum) – Jerusalem

The Holyland Model of Jerusalem depicts Jerusalem around 60 CE during the Second Temple Period before the Great Revolt against the Roman Empire. It is a 1:50 scale model of the city.

Some of the landmarks include the 2nd Temple and Temple Mount (1st and 5th photo), the City of David (4th, 7th photo), the Tomb of David (8th photo), and Golgotha/Calvary (last photo). Although it is now in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre within the Old City walls, at the time of Christ, Golgotha was a quarry located outside the city walls (seen in the direct center of the photo).

  1. The 2nd photo looks totally like an illustration.
