Tower of David – Jerusalem

The Tower of David, or the Citadel, is located near the Jaffa Gate and was built as a fortress to strengthen a weaker part of the city’s walls. The Tower of David is only traditionally named after David – the architecture includes everything from Ottoman, Mamluk, Roman, and Herodian, but nothing dating back to David’s era. But like any good fortress, the Citadel offers an amazing view of the Old City and its surroundings (especially the Dome of the Rock, the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre).
