Tomb of David – Jerusalem

King David’s Tomb is located on Mt. Zion, just outside the Zion Gate of the Old City. The room (right below the Cenacle), is the supposed burial site of David, although its authenticity is in question. According to the Torah and Old Testament David was buried with his forefathers, probably in the City of David.

The room and David’s actual tomb is tiny and not as audacious as you would think it would be. A large chamber with free kippahs to wear leads into the men’s section (the women’s section is much smaller). The next room is a library with prayer books (3-5), which opens into a tiny tiny room with the tomb which was covered with some cloth and plastic (2). The tomb was emptied except for two men praying.
