Church of the Pater Noster (Mount of Olives) – Jerusalem

The Church of the Pater Noster is a French church built in the 4th century by St. Eleni commemorating the first recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. Tiled walls in halls and courtyards (2) inscribe the prayer in 161 different languages: English (3), Chinese (4), Hebrew (6), French (9), and about 157 more. In the center of the courtyard is a small grotto (10) where traditionally Christ revealed the “inscrutable mysteries” to his disciples about the Second Coming and the destruction of Jerusalem.
