Schloß Belvedere – Vienna

Schloß Belvedere is another palace complex located within Vienna, made up of an Upper (2) and Lower (6) palace, located at the top and bottom of a shallow hill. The complex was built in the early 1700s and was most famously Franz Ferdinand’s residence in the late 1800s. The palace is smaller and less impressive than Schloß Schönbrunn, but to its benefit is more tranquil, except for a group of kids playing volleyball in the front while I was there. The best view of upper Belvedere is across it’s “lake,” really a small fountain (4), but is cool nonetheless. As it is also on a hill you can see a lot of Vienna’s city center from the upper palace.
