Trafalgar Square – London

Trafalgar Square is a large public plaza in front of the National Gallery (1), near St Martin’s in the Field (2). In the center of the square is Nelson’s Column (3, 9, 11), surrounded by four lions (8), commemorating his victory (and death) at the Battle of Trafalgar against the French and Spanish navies. The square is now a popular tourist attraction, and currently holds a countdown to the 2012 Olympics (7).
