Mount of Beatitudes – Tabgha

The Mount of Beatitudes is probably one of the most important sites on the Galilee. The church sitting at the top commemorates the supposed spot where Christ gave his famous Sermon on the Mount, where he iterated most of his teachings, including the parables of the Kingdom and the Beatitudes (blessed are the…).

The Catholic church that dominates the mount sits surrounded by mosaic floors (2) rose gardens (3) and palm trees (11), and from everywhere you can see down onto the Galilee. Inside the church is a small table with a cross and above are written all the Beatitudes (7). The church and mount are not particularly easy to get to so it’s also very peaceful and unspoiled.
